Common issues#
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| EA not visible in the Navigator | The .ex5 file was copied into another terminal's data folder, or the Navigator was not refreshed. | Use File > Open Data Folder from the terminal you are using, place the file in MQL5\Experts, then right-click Expert Advisors > Refresh or restart MT5. |
| "Algo trading disabled" / error 10027, grey hat icon | The toolbar Algo Trading button is off, or "Allow Algo Trading" is unchecked in the EA's Common tab. | Enable the Algo Trading button (green), press F7 and check "Allow Algo Trading". Review the automatic disable options in Tools > Options > Expert Advisors. |
| "license: invalid" or WebRequest error 4014 | The license server URL is not in the WebRequest list, the key was pasted incorrectly, or all activations are in use. | Add https://license.algomarketlabs.com under Tools > Options > Expert Advisors, re-enter the key without spaces; if the message remains, write to support with your order reference. |
| EA running but no trades placed | No signal yet (NOVA, QUANTIS and VECTOR X1 trade rarely, and not at all while the daily close is below the 200-day average), spread above InpMaxSpreadPct, calculated position below the broker's minimum position (not enough capital for the risk setting), daily loss limit reached, market closed, or for APEX: outside the US cash session, or a server time where 16:30 is not 9:30 New York. | Look for "[AML] Signal skipped" in the Experts tab: the message gives the approximate capital needed at the current setting (see Risk management > Capital and minimum position; for APEX on 500 to 1,000 USD, InpRiskProfile = 2). Look also for "[AML] Daily loss limit reached". Entries skipped because of the spread are not logged: check the live spread in Market Watch and, for APEX, InpOpenHour / InpOpenMinute (Configuration > Sessions and server time). |
| "Invalid volume" (10014) | The lot size is below the symbol's minimum volume, above its maximum, or not a multiple of the volume step. | Check Market Watch > right-click the symbol > Specification. The EAs round the lot down to the volume step and skip trades below the minimum volume; if the error persists, send the log to support. |
| "Not enough money" (10019) | Insufficient free margin for the order at the account's leverage. | Lower the risk setting (InpAggressiveness, InpRiskPct or, for APEX, InpRiskProfile = 1), close unrelated positions, or verify the margin requirement of the symbol and the account's leverage. |
| "Invalid stops" (10016) | Stop-loss or take-profit is closer to the price than the broker's stop level, or a modification was attempted inside the freeze level. | Check Stops level and Freeze level in the symbol specification. Brokers can widen them around news; if the error persists, send the log to support. |
| EA missing from the chart after a restart | The terminal was closed abnormally (crash, forced VPS reboot) and the current profile was not saved. | Re-attach the EA, then save the layout with File > Profiles > Save As. Close MT5 with File > Exit rather than ending the process. |
| Positions managed or closed unexpectedly | Two instances of the same EA on the same symbol share the same InpMagic, or the EA closed its position by design: daily loss limit reached, APEX session close, or daily close below the 200-day average for NOVA, QUANTIS and VECTOR X1. | Give each instance a different InpMagic, and read the Experts tab (for example "[AML] Daily loss limit reached"). |
Collect logs#
Open the Toolbox with Ctrl+T. The Experts tab shows messages printed by the EA (license status, signals skipped for lack of capital, daily loss limit, failed orders). The Journal tab shows terminal events such as connection status, order execution and trade server errors.
Log files are stored per day in the data folder (File > Open Data Folder). You can also right-click inside the Experts or Journal tab and select Open to go directly to the folder.
